By WMHF

Our long-awaited summer season has finally arrived!  Each year we look forward to the sunshine, warm days, and the many opportunities to enjoy time with family and friends. We are fortunate to live in a region where we get to experience all four seasons – sometimes all in the same week! Here at the Foundation,…

Testimonials

  • "In celebration of Doctors' Day, I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Russell Elwell, a physician known for his dedication & compassion.  His commitment to his patients goes far beyond the clinical.  It's his genuine empathy that fosters trust & healing which I have witnessed firsthand.  He always treats everyone with the respect & dignity they deserve.

It is a great honor & privilege to work with Dr. Elwell.  With sincere & heartfelt thanks, Happy Doctors' Day, Dr. Elwell.

  • "I would like to compliment you on the way you run your hospital!  Everyone is so friendly, helpful, encouraging and skilled!

I've been to your wound clinic (Dr. Jones was so helpful!) and I'm attending massage sessions for lymphedema problems in PT (Brenda Burdick is wonderful!)

I always feel comfortable and encouraged at WMH!"

    - Marcia K. de la Cerda

  • "Last winter my 14th and youngest grandchild was born in the Emergency Room at our community hospital – clearly a ‘little miracle’ right on Main Street.

We are so lucky to have WMH in our community.”

    - Roxanne Helman of Kennedy, NY – a WMH  Associate in her 44th year

  • "It's so great for me and the people who summer at Chautauqua to have a facility close by."

    - John Dilley

  • "Had it not been for the quick response of our local EMS, along with prompt medical tests and preliminary treatment at Westfield Memorial Hospital, our Cassidy would not have survived."

    - Janet E. Greene

  • "I can not say enough about how wonderful our hospital is and I am very grateful to all that work to keep this jewel in our community."

    - Sue Poster

  • "If it weren't for Westfield Hospital we wouldn't have our daughter Alivia here with us today!"

    - Matt, Erica, & Alivia Belson

  • "My husband and I supported Westfield Hospital for years. The care you provided him during his visits because of illness will never be forgotten.

Westfield Hospital is so vital to the area. I’ve experienced it on Mayville Ambulance rescue calls that I was an EMT on. The care goes beyond the care of the other hospitals in the area.

I wish to continue supporting in his memory."

    - Joyce Mathews

  • "In sincere appreciation for the above & beyond care my husband received in both the ER and during his stay. The knowledgeable staff also showed great compassion and kindness throughout his stay.

Loved seeing how well they all worked and communicated together."

    - Bernie & Carole Hess

  • "Just a small donation for our local hospital out of respect for your ENTIRE STAFF, from the main entrance to the rear emergency door.

I have always been treated with respect and consideration while being treated for any medical problem that necessitated my visit.

At age 93, I have been a patient in several hospitals including in FL, but never the same or equal to our Westfield Hospital."

    Thank you and your staff.

    - Ruth Wentzel

  • Thank you to the staff of Westfield Hospital, who gave such empathetic care to my sweetheart, Robert B. Radin (Ribon) between July 1 and July 7 of 2025. Their assistance in getting him on a medical flight to Hackensack Medical Center was beyond wonderful and much appreciated.

Unfortunately, he died there on July 14, 2025. It took a few days for the doctors there to figure out he had contracted Burkitt's Lymphoma, probably on his recent trip to Namibia. (He was immune suppressed due to a drug he took following a transplant several years ago). There was no possibility of his survival.

With gratitude for your kind team,

  • Dear Patty,

On behalf of the Patient Services team for AHN Westfield Memorial, I would like to express our profound appreciation and sincerest gratitude for your incredibly generous investment in replacing the flooring throughout our second-floor patient care areas. Your commitment to enhancing our facility has already had a significant and tangible impact, touching the lives of everyone who enters this space.

The transformation brought about by this new flooring has been remarkable. Let me explain; to most, it’s a floor. To our patients and their families, who are navigating challenging health circumstances, the immediate visual impact is one of reassurance and comfort. They see a beautiful, updated floor that immediately lifts the entire atmosphere of the patient care areas. This aesthetic enhancement contributes to a positive and healing environment further signaling our dedication to providing exceptional medical care in a welcoming and respectful setting during some of their most vulnerable moments.

Beyond the visible aesthetic improvements, your thoughtful contribution has had a monumental impact on both patient and staff safety in addition to our critical infection prevention efforts. Prior to this renovation, our previous flooring presented an ongoing concern with various trip hazards. The smooth, new surfaces have effectively eradicated these risks, providing a safer environment for our patients, many of whom may have mobility challenges. This reduces the likelihood of falls and related significant injuries while improving patient outcomes and overall safety.

For our dedicated clinical staff, the new flooring represents a profound improvement in their daily work environment. The absence of trip hazards creates a much more secure and efficient workspace, allowing them to focus entirely on patient care without the added worry of environmental obstacles. This translates to enhanced safety and well-being , contributing to a more positive and productive work culture.

Furthermore, this investment has brought our organization to an even higher level of compliance with critical infection prevention standards. The smooth, seamless surfaces of the new flooring are far easier to clean and disinfect effectively compared to the older material. This significantly reduces the potential for harboring pathogens, strengthening our ability to prevent hospital-acquired infections and safeguard the health of every individual entrusted to our care.

In closing, thank you for consistently demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to our mission. Thank you for your partnership to further support our ability to provide the highest quality of care in a safe, comfortable, and state-of-the-art environment. This project is a clear illustration of how targeted investments can yield comprehensive benefits across all facets of our hospital operations. We are deeply grateful for your vision, philanthropy, and incredible generosity.

    With gratitude,
    Kathy Walczak
